     Nancy Shiffrin on "Anais Nin: Individualist, Thinker, Creativity Advocate, Hot Babe."

 

Many people know of Anais Nin as a friend of Henry Miller. Nancy Shiffrin knew Nin as a teacher in the last year of her life.

Nin was an important literary theorist, a diarist who recorded a fascinating slice of history, an essayist who thought deeply about about women's liberty and individuality, and a creativity advocate who nurtured artists.

 

     About Nancy Shiffrin:
 

Award-winning author Nancy Shiffrin earned her M.A. studying with Anais Nin. 

Shiffrin earned her Ph.D. at The Union Institute studying Jewish American Women authors. Her work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Humanistic Judaism, New York magazine, and many literary publications. Her new poetry collection, The Vast Unknowning, will be available for sale for $15 at the KHC meeting. 

Nancy's other works include The Holy Letters and My Jewish Name.
