Richard Boddie is president and founder of The Motivators, a professional speakers bureau in Huntington Beach, CA. He is an adjunct professor in political science and business law at Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley, CA, and is an Independent Associate with Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. Boddie was born in Elmira, NY. The son, grandson, and great-grandson of Baptist ministers, he was raised in Rochester, NY, where he was the first black youth to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, and the first African-American bank executive, in the city. Boddie was the "radical" president of the Student Bar Association at Syracuse University College of Law, an anti-Vietnam War activist, a community organizer in the 1960s, a Congressional aide, and an executive with the National Center for Dispute Settlement of the American Arbitration Association in the 1970s. He was a "Citizen Advocate" on WCNY-TV's (PBS) show of the same name in Syracuse, NY, and hosted talk radio's Black to White show on WAXC-AM in Rochester, NY. A former Democrat and Republican, Boddie sought the Libertarian Party's presidential nomination in 1992. Failing that, he instead ran for the U.S. Senate on the LP in 1992, and again in 1994. He ran for California's 46th C.D. in 2000. He's served as Chair the Orange County LP (1996 -1998) and was press secretary for Steve Kubby's 1998 gubernatorial campaign. |
